3 Lawyers to Take Place of Late Judge

Three attorneys will temporarily replace a Glendale Municipal Court judge who died last week, each presiding for a month until a permanent judge can be appointed, officials said.
Judge Cheryl Krott, 48, died Saturday of a brain tumor. She had been absent from the bench since June 22, and a retired judge had been substituting for her, said Karla Olson, court administrator.
Kate E. Kaplan, a Santa Monica lawyer and former Los Angeles deputy city attorney, will preside through September as a court commissioner. G. Michael Pogue, a La Crescenta attorney, will take over in October, and Dona Bracke, a Westside lawyer and former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney, will assume the bench in November.
Court officials said they expect Gov. George Deukmejian to appoint a replacement judge by December.
