BREAKING TRADITION: Historically, Labor Day has been the official campaign kickoff time, but both party headquarters reported no special events planned for the weekend. Garden Grove Assemblyman Curt Pringle, however, is hosting a picnic for campaign volunteers Saturday at Knott’s Berry Farm. His opponent, Tom Umberg, has nothing special planned. “We had our kickoff months ago,” says Umberg’s manager. “It’s about time Curtis got his campaign going.”
