‘Godzilla’ Contract Leads to Suit: Toho International Co., which distributes the “Godzilla” movies, has filed a suit that accuses Miramax Film Corp. of backing out of an agreement to distribute the latest film featuring the prehistoric monster, “Godzilla V. Biollante.” The federal court suit maintains that Miramax agreed to pay Toho $500,000, which was to be applied against revenues generated from the movie’s distribution in the United States, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Miramax breached the contract by failing to pay the sum and backing out of the deal, the suit alleges. (Case No. 90-4671. Aug. 29)
