System for Unregistered Securities: The American Stock Exchange announced plans to develop an electronic system with Reuters Holdings PLC for trading securities in the $170-billion private placement market. A recent rule change by the Securities and Exchange Commission made it easier for securities firms to sell unregistered stocks and bonds to big institutions. The market is used largely to sell corporate debt. Amex said it expects to open the System for Institutional Trading of Unregistered Securities in the first half of 1991.
