The Quimby Act, passed in 1965 and authored by San Bernardino County Assemblyman John P. Quimby, requires developers to set aside 2.5 acres of parkland for every 1,000 residents or donate money to parks departments if they build within a one-mile radius of a park. Here’s a list of land in the city of Los Angeles acquired through the Quimby program since February, 1976.
