ORANGE : Bronze Signs to Mark Old Towne
Visitors to Old Towne in Orange will soon know when they have arrived in the historic community.
Starting today, the city will begin installing 34 signs atop the stop signs along Walnut and La Veta avenues, Batavia and Cambridge streets, and at the intersection of Glassell Street and River Avenue.
Made of bronze and mounted on wrought iron filigree, the signs will identify the area as “Old Towne Orange, Established 1873.”
Installation will take about a week, a city spokeswoman said. Officials hope the signs will promote preservation and public awareness of the Old Towne area.
