Semtech Completes Lambda Acquisition
Semtech Corp., a Newbury Park manufacturer of electronic components, said it completed the purchase of Lambda Semiconductors, which has facilities in Corpus Christi, Tex., and Mexico. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Semtech said the newly acquired division makes voltage regulators, transistors, rectifiers and other components, and had sales of about $7 million in its fiscal year that ended June 2. The production of another Semtech unit, Polycore Electronics, also will be transferred from Newbury Park to Corpus Christi, the company said.
Semtech plans to record a one-time charge of about $300,000 in its fiscal third quarter ending Oct. 31 to reflect its writeoff of the remaining, unutilized assets of Polycore. In the third quarter of fiscal 1989, Semtech earned $251,000 on sales of $4.9 million.
