THE SIDELINES : Jets’ Cadigan Out for the Year
NEW YORK — New York Jets guard Dave Cadigan will be sidelined for the rest of the season with a severe right knee injury, the team said today.
Cadigan, in his third NFL season, tore the anterior cruciate ligament while blocking during Sunday’s 20-16 loss at Miami. He underwent a magnetic resonance imagining on Monday, when it was determined that he would need major surgery. The operation will be performed Oct. 15.
Cadigan, who was the Jets’ first-round draft pick from USC in 1988, did not become a regular until this season. He has played tackle and guard for the Jets.
