Hewlett-Packard Plans Christmas Shutdown: Searching for ways to cut costs amid the computer industry downturn, the firm said U.S employees will take paid vacation for four days: Dec. 26, 27, 28 and 31. The regular company holidays are Dec. 24 and 25, and Jan. 1. H-P said the closure was a “logical move” in light of the way the holidays fall and the company’s efforts to cut expenses.
