69 Foster Families Face Possible Loss of Licenses
The Los Angeles County Department of Children’s Services has recommended that the licenses of 69 foster care families be revoked, a state official said Monday.
Donna Mandelstam, Los Angeles regional manager of the state Department of Social Services, said the children were removed from the homes because they were allegedly abused sexually and physically over the past 3 to 5 years. The cases have been referred to the district attorney’s office for possible legal action.
In addition to the recommended license revocations, the county department has removed 70 children from 28 other homes. Children remain in 31 homes under investigation, Mandelstam said.
