Candidates Forum Scheduled for Tonight
The San Fernando Valley Board of Realtors will sponsor a forum featuring candidates for state Assembly, state Senate and congressional seats in the Valley region at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Van Nuys.
The forum will include appearances by real estate broker Paula Boland and educational consultant Irene Allert, who are battling to replace retiring Assemblywoman Marian W. La Follette (R-Northridge) in the 38th Assembly District--the Valley’s only open seat this year.
Among the other candidates who have confirmed that they will appear are Assemblywoman Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley) and her Democratic opponent, Dennis Petrie, a juvenile home administrator; and Assemblyman Tom Bane (D-Tarzana) and his GOP opponent, Van Nuys real estate broker Helen Gariel.
Candidates will be allowed to make a two-minute opening statement and then field questions from the audience. The forum will be held at the Board of Realtors headquarters at 7232 Balboa Blvd., Van Nuys.
