COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : UCLA : Offense Finds Happy Medium
Football coaches usually strive for a balanced offense, but UCLA had to use its passing game more often early in the season because it fell behind against Oklahoma, Stanford and Michigan.
However, in victories over Washington State and San Diego State and a loss to Arizona, the Bruins have rushed for 680 yards and passed for 681 yards.
Tailback Brian Brown has rushed for 100 or more yards in each of the past three games. For the season, he has gained 425 yards, a 4.8-yard average. Fullback Kevin Smith has gained 305 yards, a 4.6 average.
