Lewis C. Veraldi; Headed Team That Created Ford Taurus

Lewis C. Veraldi, 60, who headed the design unit that created Ford’s successful Taurus car. Team Taurus produced what many consider the most significant new U.S. sedan of the 1980s, which helped the nation’s No. 2 auto maker reap record profits. Veraldi joined Ford in 1949 and held a number of engineering positions before moving to Ford of Europe in 1973. He returned to the United States and held top engineering posts in current and advanced vehicle design for Ford and was named Automotive Industries’ Man of the Year in 1987.
