COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : AROUND THE NATION : Arizona’s Malauulu in Hospital Briefly
Arizona quarterback George Malauulu was hospitalized for several hours Tuesday, only days after Billy Johnson, a running back, was on life support at a local hospital, Coach Dick Tomey said.
Malauulu, a sophomore from Carson, collapsed in the dressing room after practice and was taken to the University of Arizona Medical Center, where his condition was diagnosed as dehydration. He was released.
Johnson, a redshirt freshman from San Jose, collapsed Friday before the Wildcats left for a road trip to Oregon State.
He was hospitalized through the weekend for treatment of a case diagnosed as bronchitis.
Tomey said Johnson’s condition has improved but added that the back probably will miss the team’s next five games.
Arizona is 4-2 coming off a 35-21 loss to Oregon State last Saturday.
