Good Motivation: The Orange County chapter of the Building Industry Assn. is sponsoring a charity walk-bike-run event to benefit its 16-month-old HomeAid program. The fund-raiser, open to the public, will be held Nov. 10 in Irvine, and proceeds will be used for new HomeAid projects.
Through the HomeAid program, businesses and individuals in the building industry donate money, labor and materials to designated shelter projects for the temporarily homeless.
The program, which began in June, 1989, so far has completed construction or rehabilitation of five such shelters in the county, and four more projects are under way this year.
The inaugural HomeAid Run/Roll/Walk-A-Thon last year drew more than 350 participants who raised more than $120,000 through pledges from sponsors.
