Ailing Aca Joe Fires Its Chief Executive After Five Months
Just five months after he was hired, Mark Shulman has been fired as president and chief executive of apparel retailer Aca Joe Inc.
The San Francisco-based company, which has nearly 40 stores that sell casual clothing, declined to give an explanation for the move.
Shulman, whose age was given as 42, was head of the fashionable New York retailer Henri Bendel before joining Aca Joe. He could not be reached for comment.
Until a replacement is found, Shulman’s duties will be handled by the company’s executive and management committees.
Aca Joe, which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in June, 1989, continues to have financial problems. In its second quarter ended July 28, it lost $2.5 million on sales of $3.07 million.
