Playwright Awarded: Ten American writers have been named winners of the 1990 Whiting Writers’ Awards, receiving $30,000 apiece. Among them is Tony Kushner, whose play “Millennium Approaches,” an apocalyptic vision of America in the 1980s, was produced at the Taper, Too theater last spring.
