Senator Calls for Open Access: Japan’s construction market is still not open enough to U.S. builders, despite an agreement signed by the two countries in 1988, Sen. Frank Murkowski said. “Progress has been made compared with where we were two years ago, when we could not even get a (construction) license. We just don’t think it’s enough,” Murkowski told reporters in Tokyo. Murkowski (R-Alaska), a member of the Senate subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific affairs, was in Tokyo to look into trade issues in the region.
