A clogged sewer system at the downtown County Jail flooded the inmate receiving area, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The inmate receiving area was temporarily relocated from the first floor to the jail’s B Street entrance until the raw sewage could be cleaned up, a spokesman said. The flooding occurred shortly before noon Thursday, and cleanup took about half an hour, he said.
The aging facility has experienced several sewer problems in recent months, the spokesman said. Jail officials will meet soon with county general services staff to work on the problems, he said.
