“The Odyssey of Comrade Fang,” by Orville Schell (Oct. 7), was extremely interesting from start to finish. At times, I felt like I was in the middle of a John Le Carre novel.

I talked regularly with McKinney Russell over “the weekend” nightmare and was so glad the article recognized him by name. Our USIS officers are the most dedicated and unsung group of doers I know of.
