Man Killed as Motorcycle Hits Car
A motorcyclist was killed Sunday in Van Nuys when he lost control at high speed, struck a parked car and was thrown against a curb, Los Angeles police said.
Michael Hayek, 22, of Van Nuys was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital Medical Center about 20 minutes after the 3:25 p.m. crash, Officer Lee Holloman said. He was riding south in the 7000 block of Decelis Place, traveling at least 80 m.p.h., when he struck the back of the parked car, Holloman said.
The impact threw Hayek against the street’s west curb, Holloman said. Hayek, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered massive head injuries, the officer said.
