Whittier Christian 34, Tehachapi 21--Whittier Christian’s defense slowed Tehachapi just enough to pull out a victory in Bakersfield.
Whittier Christian (13-0) had no turnovers and forced Tehachapi (12-2) into three turnovers, each leading to a touchdown.
Herald tailback Rex Pritchard rushed for a touchdown in each half, quarterback Nick Sanchez threw a 49-yard touchdown pass and ran for a four-yard score, and fullback Carl Martinez had a seven-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that gave the Heralds a 27-21 lead.
Tehachapi running back Eric Young, who rushed for more than 2,000 yards in the regular season, gained 182 yards in 30 carries and scored a touchdown.
