Police arrested 41 men on prostitution-related charges this weekend in an undercover operation in which female police officers posed as prostitutes in Pacoima, authorities said.

The men, ranging in age from 18 to 50, were arrested on suspicion of soliciting the women for acts of prostitution. The men received misdemeanor citations and were released, Los Angeles police said.

Police said the crackdown, which ran from 5:30 p.m. Saturday until 12:30 a.m. Sunday, is part of a continuing effort to keep the area around Kelowna Street and San Fernando Road free of prostitutes. Residents in the area complain that the prostitutes attract undesirable people into their neighborhoods.
