Three Providence College players who sat out a game under Big East rules because of last Saturday’s brawl with Rhode Island have been suspended for two more games by school officials.

Corey Floyd, Kenny McDonald and Marvin Saddler will not be allowed to play against Manhattan at home Dec. 21 or travel with the team to face No. 4 Arizona on Dec. 23, Providence officials said Tuesday.

The trio also sat out the Friars’ 80-78 loss to Boston College on Tuesday night. They were ejected from the Rhode Island game and as a result had to sit out one contest under Big East rules.

“There is no justification for fighting at a college athletic contest,” John M. Marinatto, assistant vice president for athletics, said in a statement. “Last Saturday’s incident contradicts the mission of this college and the very purpose of intercollegiate athletics.”

Marinatto and Coach Rick Barnes spent much of Monday viewing films of the fight.
