Ski Rack Has Firm Grip

Just in time for ski season is the new Magnetic Ski Rack. The rack, which uses two flat, flexible magnets to secure it to the roof or trunk of your car, holds two pairs of skis and comes with an anti-theft, plastic-coated steel cable for the skis.

The two black magnetic discs grip the metal surface of your car and, unlike suction cups, don’t break their grip if you pull on the ski rack. Manufacturer representatives say the grips have been strength-tested for up to 500 pounds pull and up to 125 m.p.h. in wind resistance. The magnets don’t scratch the car’s surface and can be easily removed.

The Magnetic Ski Rack ($159, $10 shipping and handling) is available from Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories, 200 S. Robertson Blvd., Beverly Hills, Calif. 90211; in California and from outside the United States, call (213) 657-4800; from other states, call (800) 421-0911.
