2 Left Homeless by Apartment Fire

An early morning fire Monday inside a Burbank apartment building left two people homeless and caused an estimated $27,000 in damage, fire officials said.

The blaze in a complex in the 500 block of Rosemary Lane erupted shortly after midnight and was confined to one apartment, Battalion Chief Ken Whittekiend said. It took about 10 minutes for 16 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

Damage to the structure was estimated at $20,000; personal possessions lost inside the structure were valued at $7,000, officials said. There were no injuries.

Cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
