Auld Leno Syne: For the first time since “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” moved from New York to Los Angeles in 1972, its New Year’s Eve special will be broadcast live from the Big Apple, in part. Guest host Jay Leno, stationed in Burbank, will be joined by NBC’s Jane Pauley in New York on the Dec. 31 show. Pauley will host live coverage of the Times Square countdown to midnight. The show will begin taping at 8:30 p.m. for the live East Coast broadcast, but will be seen tape-delayed on the West Coast. Performing guests include blues legend B.B. King and country singer Dwight Yoakum.
