Loara Guard Whitlock Scores 68 Points
Loara High guard Tes Whitlock broke an 80-year-old Orange County record by scoring 68 points Saturday in a 112-102 victory over Saddleback in the third-place consolation game of the Irvine World News Tournament at Christ College Irvine.
Whitlock broke the county’s single-game mark of 58 points set by Art Worthy of Huntington Beach High in 1910. Whitlock’s previous high was 54 points against Los Alamitos last year.
Whitlock made 20 of 31 field goal attempts.
Whitlock’s point total was the fifth highest in Southern Section history. Nick Tenneriello of Colbert holds the section mark of 74 points set in the 1967-68 season.
