Players International Inc. in Calabasas, through a subsidiary, has entered into a joint venture with a Miami company to offer its call-in versions of “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” to pay-phone customers and hotel guests.
The games, accessible by dialing a 900 telephone number, are now offered only to residential and office telephone customers. Starting Jan. 1, the games will also be accessible from more than 5,000 pay phones and up to 20,000 hotel rooms, said Doug Wise, executive vice president of Players Enterprises Inc., the Players International subsidiary that operates the phone-in games.
The program is being offered under a joint venture between Players and Peoples Telephone Inc. of Miami, an operator of pay telephones.
Players International, an entertainment and travel promoter, offers discounts to gamblers at casino resorts.
