California Amplifier Inc. Reports Loss of $536,000
California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo-based maker of home satellite dishes and other telecommunications products, reported a $536,000 loss for its fiscal third quarter, compared to a $228,000 profit a year earlier.
The loss stemmed mainly from a $700,000 charge related to California Amplifier’s decision to abandon the defense side of its industry and focus on commercial sales. The loss also came despite a 22% increase in the company’s sales in the quarter ended Dec. 1, to $3.78 million from $3.09 million.
In the first nine months of its fiscal year, California Amplifier lost $370,000, compared to a $183,000 profit a year earlier, and its nine-month sales rose 31% to $11 million from $8.38 million.
