Protests Against Gulf Actions
Rosen is absolutely correct. San Luis Obispo is a town of 40,000 which solidly supported George Bush in November, 1988. Support for his Persian Gulf agenda is far more questionable.
On Dec. 1, almost 1,000 people turned out for a peace walk to protest the President’s war-threatening statements and policies. Publicity before the event was minimal. Yet on the morning of the first, a cross-section of the community was present at the County Government Center to hear short statements of others and, if they chose, make comments of their own before an open microphone as well as walk through the center of town.
