Bo, Stick With Hobby and Quit Your Job
What I hope to remember about Bo Jackson’s 88-yard run against the Bengals is right guard Max Montoya’s remark: “I was on my face, as usual. I spat the grass out of my helmet, I looked up and he was gone.”
English teachers rejoice! Even columnists are often afraid to use the past tense of spit , perhaps fearing pretension. But Max Montoya, of the oft-disparaged linemen class, used it correctly and naturally.
