First Interstate Moving Data Processing: The Los Angeles banking firm said it will move the operations--in Los Angeles and Fremont, Calif.--to Portland, Ore., and Tempe, Ariz. About 680 California employees will be affected, 450 in Los Angeles. The company said it did not know how many of the California workers would be retained. The move, which First Interstate thinks will take one year to 18 months, is expected to result in a $7-million charge to the firm’s 1990 income.
