Smoke in Jetliner Forces Evacuation; 4 Are Hurt

DES MOINES, Iowa — Smoke infiltrated an American Airlines jetliner on the tarmac at Des Moines International Airport, forcing the evacuation of the 97 passengers and seven-member crew, injuring four people, officials said.
The evacuation was ordered Thursday night when passengers and flight attendants said they spotted smoke in the cabin. Authorities found no signs of fire damage.
