CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Brown Names Top Treasurer Deputies
State treasurer-elect Kathleen Brown appointed a real estate executive and a 23-year veteran of the legislative analyst’s office as deputies. Brown named as her chief deputy Olena Berg, who most recently worked as executive vice president of Lowe Associates, a Los Angeles real estate investment firm. Berg held several state jobs between 1975 and 1982, highlighted by a three-year stint as chief deputy director of the state Department of Housing and Community Development. Brown also appointed as an assistant treasurer Hal Geiogue, an education specialist in the legislative analyst’s office.
