In a Marmonte League soccer match Friday afternoon that Royal High Coach Peter Schraml described as “more mud wrestling or a water polo game than soccer,” the visiting Royal boys sloshed to a 2-0 victory over Agoura.

“The playing conditions were pretty bad because of the rain,” Schraml said. “People were slip-sliding all over the field.”

After playing Royal, seventh-ranked in the Southern Section 4-A Division, to a 0-0 tie in the first half, Agoura saw its upset hopes begin dimming when Royal’s David Sassano scored three minutes into the second half on an assist by Jody Rehl.
