More than $30,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a Zales Jewelers store in Valencia during an early-morning break-in Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The burglary was the second in two weeks at the store in the 25800 block of McBean Parkway, Sgt. Steve Jenkins said. On Christmas Day, several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry was stolen from the store.

In another incident at the store before Christmas, an attempted theft was thwarted by a security officer after four men smashed several display cases, Jenkins said. Suspects in the December break-ins have not been arrested, he said.

During the burglary Sunday, the store’s front door was smashed and eight display cases were shattered, deputies said. The 2:40 a.m. break-in triggered an alarm, but deputies were unable to find suspects, Jenkins said.

In February, 1989, the same store was robbed of $150,000 in jewelry. A suspect was arrested the same day and later convicted, Jenkins said.
