WORLD : Cheyenne Brando Leaves Tahiti
PAPEETE, Tahiti — Cheyenne Brando, the troubled daughter of American actor Marlon Brando, left Tahiti today for Paris to seek treatment after a nervous breakdown and two suicide attempts.
Cheyenne, 20, is a central figure in a murder case against her half brother Christian, who pleaded guilty Friday to the voluntary manslaughter of her lover.
A local court accepted an application by Cheyenne’s lawyer last month for her transfer to Paris but said she must return to the French island once cured.
She was accompanied by her Tahitian actress mother Tarita Tariipia and a doctor. Family sources said they expect her father to travel to France soon to be with his daughter after being unable to see her since the first suicide bid Nov. 1.
