3-D Systems Expects Loss of $2 Million for Quarter

3-D Systems Inc. said it expects to report a loss of more than $2 million for the fourth quarter of 1990 on a significant drop in sales, contrasted with a year earlier.

3-D, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is the parent of 3D Systems Inc. in Valencia, which makes equipment that rapidly produces plastic models of industrial products and other goods.

The company’s sales in the quarter, which ended Dec. 31, were hurt by “recessionary pressures and uncertainties in the Middle East, which have resulted in delays or postponements in orders,” 3-D Chairman Raymond S. Freed said in a statement.
