Datametric’s Net Income Rises While Revenues Fall
Datametrics Corp., a Chatsworth producer of computer printers and keyboards for the military and aerospace industries, said its net income more than doubled for the fourth quarter that ended Oct. 28 from $80,367 to $196,000, compared to the same period a year earlier.
But the company’s fourth-quarter revenues dropped 31% in the period, from $8.6 million to $5.9 million, compared to a year earlier.
For its 1990 fiscal year, Datametrics earned $564,000 on revenues of $26.5 million in contrast to a loss of $2.1 million on revenues of $29.9 million in fiscal 1989.
Sidney E. Wing, president and chief executive officer, attributed the decline in revenues in part to belt-tightening in military spending. He said an anticipated increase in defense spending this year means the company will likely receive some contracts that did not come through last year.
