Defanging Hussein

The Dec. 28 front-page article by Jack Nelson (“Bush Determined Not to Delay Gulf Attack”) states, “Officials said Bush assumes the American public will be mainly concerned with U.S. casualties, not the tens of thousands of Iraqis . . . civilians, women, children. . . .”

Another official is quoted, “ . . . if the war continues and TV shows people getting blown up, it could cause serious problems.” With thinking like this, no wonder they can’t “talk.”

The callousness and removal from the whole idea of life on Earth in this philosophy are more chilling than NBC--nuclear, bacterial, chemical. This war is truly unique in that we can stop it before it happens, and we must.
