Police this week were continuing to investigate the shooting death of a 42-year-old man who had recently moved to Glendale.

Russel Campoverd, who worked at a Los Angeles furniture store, was found Friday afternoon bleeding from several gunshot wounds in the street near his home in the 300 block of West Windsor Road, police said. He died shortly after being taken to Glendale Memorial Hospital.

Glendale Sgt. Russ Pierce said two men were arrested over the weekend in connection with the case but were released Tuesday because investigators had insufficient evidence for criminal charges. He said police have not determined a motive in the shooting, but said it does not appear to be gang-related.

Police are also investigating the death of a resident whose body was discovered Jan. 2 on a vacant lot on Nolan Avenue in Glendale. Pierce said the man was identified this week as Victor Bonnefoy, 38, of Glendale.

No evidence of foul play was apparent, and an initial examination by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office was inconclusive in determining the cause of death, Pierce said. Police are awaiting further toxicological test results from the coroner’s office, he said.
