Ashley Wacholder Commits to Duke

Ashley Wacholder of Laguna Beach High School has orally committed to play volleyball at Duke next season, her club coach, Charlie Brande, said Tuesday.

Wacholder, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter, also was considering Colorado State, UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Brande said.

Wacholder averaged 16 kills last season and led the Artists (21-5) to the Southern Section 5-A semifinals. She was named to The Times’ all-Orange County second team.
