NATION IN BRIEF : VERMONT : Kunin Steps Down After Three Terms

Madeleine Kay Kunin, an immigrant and the only woman in the nation to serve three terms as governor, left the Vermont Statehouse in Montpelier. Kunin, a Democrat, gave a farewell address centered on gratitude for the doors that government had opened in her life and a philosophy that government should do so for others.
