COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Beavers Hold Off Ducks, 84-76

Oregon State remained undefeated in Pacific 10 Conference play by overcoming a 38-point performance by Oregon’s Terrell Brandon and beating the Ducks, 84-76, Saturday at Corvallis, Ore.

Teo Alibegovic and Charles McKinney each made four free throws in the final three minutes to help the Beavers (9-4 overall, 3-0 in the Pac-10) hold off a late rally by the Ducks (7-6, 2-1).

After trailing by as many as 14 points in the first half, Oregon rallied to pull to within 74-72 with 2:27 left after consecutive three-point baskets by Jordy Lyden.

But a free throw by McKinney and two free throws by Chad Scott gave the Beavers a 77-72 lead with 1:52 left.

A basket by Brandon cut the lead to 77-74 with 1:42 left, but McKinney made three more free throws and Alibegovic made two to clinch the victory.

Brandon, the Pac-10’s leading scorer, averaging almost 27 points a game, made 14 of 25 shots.

Oregon State has won 27 of the last 31 meetings with Oregon, including 12 of the last 13 in Corvallis.

Stanford 94, Washington State 63--The Cardinal used a 20-3 run late in the game to turn a 68-54 lead into a rout at Stanford.

Stanford (9-5, 2-2) led, 41-32, at halftime, but had to withstand a 15-6 run by Washington State (9-4, 2-2). The Cougars rallied from a 31-15 deficit to pull to within 37-30 on a three-point basket by Terrence Lewis with 1:45 left.

The Cardinal shot 85% from the free-throw line, making 28 of 33. Adam Keefe, who scored 19 of his game-high 26 points during a 15-minute stretch of the second half, was 12 of 13 from the line.
