Executive Hiring Drops: Demand for top level executives plunged nearly 20% in the fourth quarter of 1990 as a deepening recession took its toll on corporate hiring, according to a survey of 750 firms nationwide. For the entire year, demand for senior executives--defined as those who earn more than $100,000 annually--fell by 17%, according to Korn/Ferry International, an executive search firm. While hiring levels were the weakest in the financial services and real estate industries, demand for executives in health care grew and remained strong in the education and nonprofit sectors.
