ORANGE : Transient Arrested in Hart Park Rape
A transient has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman at W.O. Hart Park last month, and police said Friday they are seeking two people who may have witnessed the attack.
David Clifford Jackson, 32, was arrested at the park Thursday in connection with the Dec. 8 attack. He was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of rape, kidnaping and robbery.
The rape occurred as a 35-year-old Orange woman was crossing the southwest portion of the park near the horseshoe pits, Orange Police Sgt. Robert Gustafson said. The assailant approached the victim, threatened her with a handgun and raped her.
The park is near Glassell Street and the Garden Grove Freeway. The victim told police that two people witnessed at least part of the attack.
“We’re hoping that the two passersby who witnessed the incident will come forward and talk to us,” Gustafson said. “So far, we haven’t heard from them.”
Anyone with any information about the attack or the whereabouts of the witnesses can contact Orange Police Detective Pat Thayer at (714) 744-7515 or the watch commander after hours at (714) 744--7403.
