British Unit Ordered to Build POW Camps

LONDON —
A battalion of 600 British infantrymen was ordered to the Persian Gulf on Friday to construct prisoner-of-war camps for Iraqi troops who surrender or are captured.
British defense officials declined to say how many Iraqi prisoners they expect to handle.
