In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s basketball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 79, Chapman 75--After falling behind by 15 early in the second half, Chapman pulled to within 70-68 with eight minutes left but couldn’t catch up. Chapman had a chance to take the lead, but a three-point attempt by Chris Martin missed with 2:30 remaining. Roger Middleton led Chapman (11-7, 1-2) with 23 points. Stewart Thomas of Cal Poly had 19 points.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Christ College Irvine 81, Southern California College 66--Gitte Mejer had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Nancy Geisler had 17 and eight for host Christ College Irvine (10-4, 1-2).

In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s basketball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 72, Chapman 61--Jennifer Ballenger scored 14 points for visiting Chapman.

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

UC Irvine 93, New Mexico State 91 (OT)--Cathy Lizarraga scored 23 points for host UC Irvine (4-12, 2-5).

In nonconference men’s swimming:

UC Irvine 175, Cal State Northridge 62--Mat Curry and Jeff Klatt each won two events for UC Irvine (4-1) at Heritage Park.
