Pinkerton’s Inc., the Van Nuys-based security firm, announced the appointment of Earl A. Smith and Thomas L. Irvin as executive vice presidents and co-managers of all Pinkerton’s field operations in the United States and Mexico.

Previously Smith was a senior vice president with the company in Charlotte, N.C. Irvin was a Pinkerton’s senior vice president in Fairfield, Ohio, where he will continue to serve.

Pinkerton’s, the nation’s largest security concern, said the promotions are part of the company’s efforts to combine its security and investigation services under one management team. Pinkerton’s does business under the name Pinkerton Security & Investigation Services.
